Wedding FAQs

Please feel free to contact me with any questions not answered here, and don't forget to explore how to Find The Perfect Officiant.
Did you know?
Blue Acorn also provides couple's pre-marital counseling. Click here for more information

We've chosen the package and 'Ala Carte' options we'd like for our ceremony. What's our next step?

Complete the Wedding Planning Form to the left. Make sure you include your phone numbers. Send it right back so I can contact you.

Will the ceremony reflect our beliefs, whether it is Christian, pagan, secular, Buddhist, Atheist, or a combination?

Yes, this is your ceremony, and I am here to respect your beliefs. I feel an officiant should honor the wonderfully unique spirit of your relationship and seek to incorporate this into your ceremony as you wish.

Do you ever officiate with another member of the clergy including a priest?

Yes. I have performed several marriages where the couple comes from different religious backgrounds. I enjoy it and work collaboratively with anyone.

Are you able to officiate at long distance Get-away Destinations?

Yes, because I am licensed and ordained through Unity, I have officiated all over the US. If you desire to hold a ceremony farther away, we just need to discuss logistics like lodging, travel time, expenses, and/or mileage calculations, as needed. After all, I do love Hawaii and the Bahamas!

How much do you charge?

It varies. Please review the Packages, Costs, Options and information regarding financial arrangement.

How long do your ceremonies usually last?

It is largely up to you, but the average length is 30-35 minutes (depending upon the various rituals, songs, readings, etc. you choose).

Is it okay that we want to write our own vows?

Absolutely! There are many ways to incorporate your words into the ceremony, and I am here to help.

My partner and I are: of different religions / of the same sex / more spiritual than religious / planning to include multicultural aspects / planning to include our children. Is this a problem?

Not at all! It is a blessing to know who you are and what is important to you.

Do you need the full payment before our wedding

Yes. A non-refundable deposit of $100 is requested to secure your wedding date and time. Then you make payments so that you are paid in full 1 week before the ceremony. I have found it is much easier for the couple not to think about money during their big day. It's a time of celebration! See the 'Financial Arrangements' section found at the conclusion of Packages, Costs, Options.

How much contact will we have with you before the wedding?

Initially, the 3 of us will meet 60 to 90 minutes (depending on your package of choice) as we develop your perfect day; choose components; get to know each other; create a good outline—and whether you desire premarital counseling or not. After we meet that first time, we will talk as often as you need. Couple's needs vary.

Where do we meet with you to discuss our ceremony?

I have a comfortable office located 10 minutes from Highway 217 (near Washington Square Mall in Tigard, Oregon), so it is easily accessible. Should we need to make other arrangements, we can talk about that when I call you.
